The eight natural regions of Peru is a thesis of the Peruvian geographer Javier Pulgar Vidal formulated in 1938, the author seeks to make a systematic division of Peru into natural regions according to altitudinal levels, flora and fauna. The altitudinal indications change slightly between the different editions of his work, and should be understood as orientation.
The eight natural regions of Vidal are the following, from west to east:
Chala (Coast)
Yunga
Quechua
Suni
Puna
Janca or Cordillera
Rupa Rupa or High Jungle
Omagua or Low Jungle
First day: Lima – Huanuco
Second day: Huanuco – Tingo Maria
Third day: Tingo Maria – Pucallpa
Fourth day: Pucallpa – full day
Fifth day: Pucallpa
sixth day: Pucallpa – Villa rica
Seventh day: Villa Rica – Lima
